MICR Check Printing in Cleartouch

Modified on Fri, 12 Jan 2024 at 01:51 PM

See below details on ensuring your branch computer has the MICR printer properly installed in Cleartouch in order to print official checks / money orders.

Instructions for Adding MICR Printer to Cleartouch

  • In Printers and Scanners (Start Menu --> Printers and Scanners), you can verify that your branch’s MICR printer has already been installed.

  • Add the printer to the printer settings in Cleartouch:
    1. Log in to Cleartouch, go to the File menu --> Printer Setup; edit the Money Order line.  (Note: If you are a back office department, you should also edit the Cashier Check row, in addition to the Money Order row.)
    2. In the drop-down lists, first select your MICR printer, then choose Laser & Courier New -
    3. Click the Update Printer(s) button at the bottom of the page

  • Ensure that a MICR toner cartridge is installed, replacing the regular toner cartridge that originally came with the printer, before starting to print any checks/money orders.

  • Currently, each branch's HP printer is under contract with DEX Imaging.  DEX monitors the toner levels in each MICR printer and should automatically ship you a new MICR toner cartridge when it is running low, but before it is depleted.  The toner must be stored in a secure place in the branch.

  • Contact IT with any technical questions or issues.  As of November 2023, these HP printers are covered under the service contract with our vendor, DEX Imaging (formerly Meritech), as our other Ricoh printers are, so you may need to contact them directly to place a service call if there is a physical hardware issue (e.g. print jam that you are unable to clear).
  • Managers can contact Retail Operations with any questions regarding the process for official check/money order printing.
