Hard Drive Full / Out of Space

Modified on Sat, Oct 5, 2024 at 11:41 PM

Occasionally, a computer may run out of space on the hard drive (C:/).  This usually happens on branch computers where multiple users log in and a large number of user profiles are present.

1. Determine in C:\Users which employees are no longer with the bank, then delete those profiles.

*NOTE: The appropriate way to delete profiles is to run SystemPropertiesAdvanced, NOT by deleting the folder in C:\Users. This will remove all remnants of the profile in the registry and prevent login issues.

2. You can consult the branch staff or the intranet directory to find out which other user profiles can be deleted (for those who simply no longer work at that particular branch).

3. Run a Disk Cleanup to remove excess background/system/log files that are no longer needed.

4. Clear the contents of the C:\Windows\ccmcache folder - usually safe to delete these files.
