Placing Files on a User's Desktop

Modified on Thu, Jul 2, 2020 at 9:27 PM

From your own computer, click on the Start menu and enter the following in the search field: \\[computerID]\c$

Alternatively, open a new Windows Explorer window and enter that path at the top.

Then, open the Users folder --> folder of the user you are looking for --> Desktop folder.  You may now place a file or shortcut here and they will appear on the user's desktop.

If you would like to place a shortcut on the desktop for ALL users who log into the computer to see, in the Users folder, navigate to the Public folder --> Public Desktop and place the icon there.  (You may need to "show hidden items" in order for Public Desktop to be shown in the list of options.)
