Desktop Stuck in Boot

Modified on Tue, Jul 21 at 11:17 AM

Occasionally, a branch employee may report that they can't get their computer to turn on. The issue normally is that the desktop gets stuck in boot and the monitor falls asleep. All the USB devices plugged in overflows the power to display causing the sleep / fail. This has happened on micro 7010 desktops.

To fix, have the branch staff do the following:

  1. Unplug from the back of the computer:
    • AC power
    • ALL USB devices
    • HDMI/DP
  2. Hold power button 30–40 seconds
  3. Wait 60 seconds
  4. Plug back in ONLY:
    • AC power
    • Keyboard + mouse only
    • HDMI/DP
  5. Power on

If this doesn't work after a few attempts than the desktop is probably cooked
