When a system goes down, our leadership may want a banner posted on the Root intranet site to keep employees informed. This may include outages for the following systems:
- Cleartouch
- VPN
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Teams
- Other
For the above listed examples, Marketing's graphic designer has developed some pre-planned/canned banners for us to post. See Option 1 below for instructions on how to post one of these banners.
For other outages, or where we need to communicate custom information that is not already in an existing graphic, follow Option 2 to create a custom "banner" in Sharepoint.
Option 1: Posting a Graphic Banner
- Go to the Root intranet homepage and click the Edit button in the top-right corner
- Above "The Root" banner, add a new Section (blue plus arrow in the middle), then add a new web part (gray plus arrow) --> Image
- Browse to Site --> IT Document Library --> IT Eyes Only --> Alert Banners folder, select the appropriate banner you wish to use, then click Select
- View your changes, then when ready to publish, click the Republish button in the top-right corner
- When the outage is over, simply delete the entire section and republish changes
Option 2: Creating a Post? in Sharepoint
- Instructions TBA
