Syncing Teams Channels in Windows File Explorer

Modified on Tue, Apr 29 at 12:35 PM

Occasionally, your team may save shared documents in Microsoft Teams within your department/group's team/channel.  In addition to navigating into the Files section of the channel within Teams, you can also sync the Files directory with your Windows File Explorer.

If currently synced, you will see the following "First Mutual Holding Co" option in the left hand pane of File Explorer, as shown in the example below:

If this FMHC option is not appearing for you, please do the following:

  • Navigate to the Teams channel: Open Microsoft Teams, go to the desired team, and select the channel whose files you want to access in File Explorer.
  • Click the Files tab: Within the channel, click the "Files" tab.
  • Click the "Sync" button: You'll see a "Sync" button, click it to start the synchronization process.
  • Open File Explorer: Go to File Explorer on your computer.
  • Find the synced folder: The synced files from the Teams channel will be located in a folder under your organization's name or in the OneDrive section.
