Using IE Mode in Microsoft Edge

Modified on Thu, Jun 2, 2022 at 4:55 PM

Internet Explorer is set to be retired by Microsoft on June 15, 2022.  In its place, for websites that still only function properly in Internet Explorer, you may use "IE Mode" in Microsoft Edge to access these applications.

IE Mode has been enabled across the bank.  When you open Microsoft Edge and navigate to a website, like Fiserv's Web Capture site, click the three dots icon in the top-right corner of Edge, then verify you see a "Reload in Internet Explorer mode" option in the menu.  If you do not see this option, please *see below.

When you click on this "Reload" option, the website you currently have open will relaunch in IE Mode and should allow you to access and log in as you normally would in Internet Explorer.  To verify you are using IE Mode, you should see a blue IE icon at the top of the screen:

If the "Reload" option is listed but is greyed out, make sure you have navigated to a website first.  It will not work if you simply opened the Edge browser but did not go to a website, like Web Capture (Fiserv).

Upon reloading the page in IE mode, you may be presented with the following box.  IT recommends NOT selecting the "Open this page in IE mode next time" switch, as it will only save this setting for 30 days.  To prevent any surprises from popping up in 30 days, you should go to the three dots --> Reload in IE Mode option every time you wish to load a webpage in IE Mode.

WEB CAPTURE USERS:

Every time you close Edge and re-open the browser, you will need to select "Reload in IE Mode" from the three dots menu every time you need to use Web Capture.  Unfortunately, it will not stick indefinitely.  That is by design, as you do not want to use IE Mode for every website you visit in Edge.
This should only be temporary until Fiserv allows Web Capture to work without IE Mode (in "regular" Edge).

*If you don't see the "Reload in Internet Explorer Mode" option and this is the first time you are trying to use it, you may need to first follow the additional steps below:

Open Edge, click the three dots in the top right corner --> go to Settings --> Default browser --> make sure that “Allow sites to be reloaded in IE Mode” is set to “Allow.”

It may ask you to relaunch Edge before proceeding to the steps above to Reload in IE Mode.

If you do not even see this "Allow sites to be reloaded in IE mode" setting, please contact the Service Desk.
