Zix Email Encryption

With the retirement of SilverSky MailSafe encryption in 2026, all employees can send/receive secure emails directly via Microsoft Outlook.

Some LOBs, like the Legal team, require received notices and read receipts for their encrypted emails to ensure delivery.  This is not a capability in Microsoft's system.  However, we can take advantage of Zix email encryption for this functionality.  As of August 2026, we only have ten licenses so this should not be advertised widely. 

Membership is assigned in a mail-enabled security group in the cloud.  Simply add the requesting employee to this group:

The transport rule looks for only users in this group.  

On the employee's end, the Subject line in their email should be zixencrypt (not case sensitive).  Full transport rule details are below.
