Two of our printer vendors, DEX Imaging (FMHC/FFL) and Duplicator (Blue Grass Federal) use ECI's DCA (Data Collection Agent) software to scan the printers on our network and retrieve automatic meter readings. This saves us having to submit manual meter readings for billing purposes. This also allows the vendor to monitor toner levels so they can trigger automatic shipment of new toner directly to the branch that needs it.
Currently, the ECI DCA software for each vendor is installed on the following servers:
- FMHC/FFL: WCLELS02 (Lansweeper server)
- Blue Grass: WPARLP02 (the Paris LaserPro server)
When Blue Grass was installed, Duplicator preferred a separate install/server than the existing install for DEX. We could have put all the Blue Grass printer IPs into DCA on the FMHC/FFL server, but then DEX would have to manually send the meter reads and toner levels to Duplicator, which could cause delays in shipment of supplies.
If needed in the future, i.e. if one of the above servers gets decommissioned, we will need to reinstall the software on another server to prevent interruption of data flow to the vendor. See installers here: G:\IT\Apps\Printer DCA\Blue Grass
